Have You Heard the Scoop?
For the San Diego Helpful Honda Guys, summer means ice cream! This past month, we have been sharing our love for sweet, cool treats with families all around the area to FREE ice cream! We’ve stopped in places like Poway, San Marcos, Chula Vista, and more. When it comes to making people smile, we’re all in.
Our first stop of the summer was to treat young athletes at the Padres Summer Baseball and Softball camp. After a long day of running around in the sun, we wondered what could be better than ice cream!
Next up, we made our way over to Veterans Park to pull off the ultimate surprise – free ice cream at a birthday party! The kids were ecstatic, and the parents couldn’t have been more appreciative. They told us, “This means so much to our family. We have been going through a hard time, so thank you. This really lifted our spirits.”
While we love special events, we wanted to make sure we helped you, too! We stopped by parks, playgrounds, skateparks, and dog parks in your local neighborhoods. After a visit to the Connors Park in San Marcos, some people couldn’t believe that we’re real! One parent questioned, “Is this a prank? Where’s the hidden camera?” Other parents were a little jealous as their children walked away with free ice cream, and came up to us asking, “Can I have one too?!” Luckily, we had enough for everyone!
Lastly, we stopped by Carlsbad to surprise volunteers and families at a local health fair and treated everyone to some free ice cream! One happy volunteer told us, “Thanks for being a great example of kindness to everyone here!” Before heading home for the day we made a quick stop at Carlsbad police station to surprise them with some tasty treats, too. They were pleasantly surprised and said, “Wow, you guys are real?!” Yes, we are real – and it’s our job to be helpful!
While summer winds down, we’re getting ready to help kids when they go back to school. We’ll be stopping by a few schools around San Diego County to surprise kids with: FREE BOOKS! Helpful, right?
Make sure you’re following us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to tell us about your school or to reach out for your own Random Act of Helpfulness.
